Big Lizard Behind My Shed

This big bad boy lives behind my shed. He's been there for years but he's so fast and so skittish that I never got a decent shot of him before.

A special thanks to sharp-eyed fellow DA'er TheEyesNeedMore. for ID'ing the type of lizard this is. I have to agree; this sure looks like a Pogona (Bearded Lizard) as seen here: [link] .

However, according to the encyclopedia, this lizard is native to Australia and I (and this particular pogona) like in America. Maybe that's why this lizard is so skittish; he runs from people immediately because he got thrown out of his home. That's a shame.

I don't think I'll catch him and bring him inside, though; I have four cats. He's a very big lizard, but still...he'd have a heart attack.

Guess I'll keep putting out the lettace that goes bad for him though.
